A new 12-speed gearbox perfectly harmonised with the 420 engine and combined with Scania Opticruise and retarder for smoother, faster shifting, less noise, lighter clutch pressure and better braking. A new fuel-saving 6-speed automatic gearbox is available for the 340 and a 8-speed gearbox with Opticruise and retarder or Comfort Shift is available for the 340 and 380 hp engines.
