All new heavy goods vehicles and long-distance passenger carrying vehicles registered from May 2006 are fitted with a digital in-vehicle unit which captures tachograph data, ready for downloading. It’s a legal requirement for data to be downloaded and held securely for a period of one year. VOSA may require access to this information.
Digital tachograph downloading technology consists of three key elements: - Digital in-vehicle unit, fitted to every new vehicle from May 2006. It records data, just as the old paper tachographs did, which is required to be downloaded every 8-12 weeks, minimum.
- Driver Card. Each driver has a unique card which slots into the digital in-vehicle unit. It stays with the driver and is required to be downloaded within 28 days; depending on your type of operation.
- Company Card. Each company has a unique card which is required every time a tachograph is downloaded.
Our objective is to minimise the complexity of the whole process for you. We understand both your requirements and that of the legislation, providing a fast, convenient, secure service, through a simple, straightforward approach.
