Sustainable Fuels

Ethanol: It is not possible to convert an existing engine to operate on ethanol.  The only option here is to specify the factory-built 270hp ethanol engine.

FAME Fuels: Any Scania engine with an HPI or PDE injection system (which covers most engines from the 4-series onwards) can be operated on FAME fuels providing servicing is amended in accordance with Scania's recommendations (see overleaf).  It is not possible to use an in-line fuel pump with FAME fuels.

Auxiliary equipment: It is important to ensure that auxiliary equipment using the same fuel as the vehicle can also run on biofuel.  Certain types of accessories, such as night heaters, cannot run on biofuels and therefore require a separate fuel tank.
