In view of conflicting messages and opinions, operators must be able to feel confident about the sustainability of the renewable fuels they consider using.
Scania strongly favours the development of a uniform system for certifying and labelling biofuels. To be viable, biofuels must give substantial net reductions in Carbon Dioxide emissions compared to fossil fuels, and without competing directly with food production or threatening biodiversity.
Scania is convinced that biofuels can fulfil these criteria and contribute to economic growth and welfare in developing countries.
