UK and EU targets
The Government's Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation requires oil companies total sales in the 12 months to April 2009 being at least 2.5% biofuel increasing to 3.75% in the following 12 months and to 5% by 2010/11. The EU has set a target of 5.75% by 2010 and 10% by 2020. (As the above figures indicate, the UK will not meet these targets. This has been confirmed by the Government).

It's a Fact: From 2009, the diesel fuel you purchase from the forecourt may contain up to 5% FAME as part of the Government's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation. |
