The P-, G- and R-series are all based on Scania's modular system. Each model series is therefore available in a large number of variants and configurations with different powertrains.

The 9-litre engine is no longer available in the R-series, but the 6-cylinder 12/13-litre range is. The V8 is offered exclusively in the R-series.
