Scania vehicles are renowned for modular design, day-to-day reliability and long-term dependability. These attributes are precisely what makes Scania trucks ideal for defence applications, where the vehicles may be used in unknown terrain, possibly thousands of miles from home and without guaranteed access to a local service infrastructure.

However, operational backup is a vital factor. Scania has a worldwide network of distributors and dealers, so even if access to a particular service location may be denied, vital parts can often be obtained in neighbouring states. The operational backup is simplified by the modular design requiring fewer special tools and fewer parts in stock.

Scania will also supply electronic media featuring training, comprehensive service manuals and parts catalogues in several languages.

Vehicles can be supplied to meet many applications, all vehicles are  based on standard-production chassis and can be adapted to be suitable for transporting tanks, to more specialised units such as 8x8 axle configurations, or 150 tonnes gross train weight. Cabs can be reinforced to withstand anti-tank mine blasts and armour piercing small-arms fire.
