New Scania flagships for Fogarty

In a move which sees the first two Scania vehicles enter service with one of Boston, Lincolnshire's oldest-established companies, master quilt and pillow maker Fogarty has invested in two new flagships for its fleet.

Delivered by Scania (Great Britain) Limited, Boston, the vehicles are 480 horsepower Topline-cabbed R480 LA6x2/4MNA twinsteer tractor units.  Both have been supplied on full five-year contract hire agreements, which will see Scania Boston provide all servicing and maintenance over the coming five years.

The trucks have been delivered with matching new Dennison curtainsider trailers, which are the first to feature Fogarty's new livery, which promotes its upmarket Boston Quilt and Pillow brand on one side with Fogarty Signature Luxury branding on the other. The vehicles are now set to operate on the company's long haul operations, which will see them travel the length and breadth of the UK, including making regular journeys to Northern and Southern Ireland.

"We are very pleased with the appearance and performance of these new vehicles and their fuel consumption is excellent too," comments Fogarty's Transport Manager Paul Painton.  "We were first introduced to Scania by way of Scania Truck Rental, Spalding, from whom we hired vehicles on an as-and-when basis.  Such was the quality of the vehicles and the backup provided by Scania that our relationship rapidly developed to the point where we decided to introduce them in to our permanent fleet."

As one of the country's leading manufacturers of bedding, Fogarty's products are today widely available throughout the UK and exported worldwide.  The company traces its roots back to 1877, when it was established as a feather processor.  The firm subsequently developed its reputation as a producer of quality bedding when it was acquired by local entrepreneur Edward Fogarty in 1901.
