Ten Scania OmniExpress tourers for the Bowen Travel Group

Scania (Great Britain) Limited has secured an order for ten Scania OmniExpress 36 touring coaches from the Bowen Travel Group.

Scheduled to enter service during 2010, these vehicles have been selected following the successful trial of a Euro 4 Scania OmniExpress 36, which has been operating within the Lincolnshire based Appleby 'Elite' fleet on a wide range of UK and European tours.

Each of the vehicles in this order will be built on Scania EB 4x2 chassis equipped with 400 horsepower Scania Euro 5 EGR engines and Scania Opticruise 12-speed automated gearboxes.  The order comprises nine units built to the current Bowens touring coach specification with the tenth vehicle being built to the company's 44 leather seat 'Elite' standard.

Kevin Lower, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bowen Travel Group comments, “Our relationship with Scania and its products has developed over many years now and we are pleased to place this order with Scania (Great Britain) Limited for the new and exciting OmniExpress.  An additional benefit is that the full two-year repair and maintenance contract provided with this product enables us to project our operating costs for at least the next two years. This facility, along with the passenger appeal of the Omni Express 36, further enhances our relationship with Scania and we are now looking forward to operating these vehicles through our coach operating company L.F. Bowen Ltd.”

“These vehicles will be deployed across our Bowens division in the Midlands and the Applebys division in Lincolnshire. We believe this significant upgrade to our frontline touring vehicles will provide a much enhanced experience for the customers travelling on our highly successful coach holiday programme.”
