Bristol Fruit Sales distributes with Scania
Fresh produce distributor, Bristol Fruit Sales (Market) Limited, has once again selected Scania as its preferred fleet choice with two Scania rigids and two twin-steer tractor units recently added to this growing West Country operator's fleet. The four trucks have been supplied by Scania (Great Britain) Limited's Avonmouth branch, which will also be responsible for fulfilling the extended repair and maintenance contract specified by Bristol Fruit Sales.
The two rigids are a two-axle Scania P 230 DB4x2MNA and a three-axle Scania
P 270 DB6x2MNA. Both are equipped with Scania EGR Euro 4 engines, delivering 230 and 270 horsepower respectively. Gray & Adams refrigerated insulated bodywork is fitted to both trucks. The tractor units are 420hp Scania R 420 6x2/4MNA twin-steer models with Scania Highline cabs. "Our relationship with Scania stretches back to the early '80s, since when we have enjoyed good fuel returns, reliability and excellent back-up in the south west," comments Bristol Fruit Sales' Distribution Manager, Mark Smith. "In particular, the aftersales service we receive keeps our downtime to a minimum and it's true to say that operating Scania vehicles also helps us attract and retain good drivers." Established in 1957, Bristol Fruit Sales (Market) Limited has operational bases in Bristol, Cardiff, Bodmin and Paignton. Its vehicles typically cover between 80,000 and 100,000 kilometres per annum on distribution work throughout the south of England and Wales.
