An entirely new concept known as Scania Total Transport Solutions and a flagship V8 tractor unit, the Scania Griffin, are being launched at this year's Commercial Vehicle Show. Also on display on the Scania stand, number 2221 in Hall 2, will be three Scania EGR Euro 4 vehicles, comprising two Scania R-series tractor units and a Scania P-series rigid and exhibition areas devoted to Young European Truck Driver 2007, the Scania Driver Experience, Scania Fleet Management and Scania Used Trucks.

Scania Total Transport Solutions

Scania Total Transport Solutions is the name of a new range of products and services from Scania which have been designed to assist operators in all aspects of their businesses from vehicle acquisition to on-going maintenance and repair requirements.

"Under the umbrella of Scania Total Transport Solutions we will be providing everything from fully built up rigid trucks to ancillary equipment maintenance and accident repair management services," explains Tim Pugh, Scania (Great Britain) Limited's Business Development Director.  "The project has been launched following extensive consultation with operators and our objective is to supplement our already broad product offering with a wide range of complementary products and services."

The first fully built-up rigid trucks to be offered by Scania will be the Scania Distribution Box followed soon after by the Scania Distribution Curtainsider.  Both will be available in 4x2 and 6x2 wheelplans for 18- and 26-tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) applications respectively.  The first models are planned for delivery during the first half of 2007.  The vehicle on the stand is a P 230 DB4x2MNA with the G670 six speed gearbox and CP16 day cab.  Complete with a 7.925m box body and 1.5t Tuk-a-Way tail-lift this vehicle is ideally suited for urban distribution work.

A third fully built-up rigid vehicle from Scania will also be available soon.  This will be a 32 tonnes GVW weight 8x4 hookloader with bodywork from preferred supplier Multilift.

"A key feature of this service is that operators will be able to source complete ready-for-the-road vehicles through a single order with their local Scania dealer," adds Tim Pugh.

In order to provide operators with an ancillary equipment maintenance service, initially covering items such as fridges and tail-lifts, Scania will be introducing a nationwide fleet of mobile technicians during 2007.  "We are already providing many operators with a comprehensive range of aftersales services and the introduction of a mobile fleet will make that service even more convenient from their point-of-view as well as opening up new business opportunities for our dealers," explains Tim Pugh.
