Specialising in the repair and maintenance of ancillary equipment on truck, bus and coach operators' premises or, if necessary, at the roadside, Scania's Mobile Engineers service covers a variety of items including tail-lifts, fridges, shutter doors, air-condition systems and wheelchair lifts.
"Our Mobile Engineers programme has been developed in support of customers looking to maximise their uptime and operating efficiency," comments James Armstrong, Aftersales Director for Scania (Great Britain) Limited. "Many operators already have their vehicles and trailers maintained by the Scania network, so it makes perfect sense for them to also entrust their ancillary equipment to us. While a proportion of this work is, of course, undertaken within our own workshops, the introduction of Mobile Engineers adds flexibility and even greater convenience to the service we provide."
Scania's Mobile Engineers programme is backed by a £1m investment in staff training and state-of-the-art service vehicles and equipment. The current personnel complement of 70 comprises 25 dedicated Mobile Engineers directly employed by Scania (Great Britain) Limited and 45 from the independent Scania UK dealer network and selected third-party service providers, all of whom are manufacturer trained.
The overall focus of the programme is to provide operators with an holistic service. Accordingly, in addition to repair and maintenance Scania's Mobile Engineers offer a complete installation service and safety-certification to ensure on-going legal compliance.
Scania is today an agent for the majority of leading tail-lift and fridge manufacturers. As such, the company has integrated an extensive range of replacement components into its own parts supply chain to enable its Mobile Engineers source required items as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
All services provided by Scania's Mobile Engineers for truck, bus and coach are offered either as required or on a contract basis, with a range of support programmes available to suit specific needs. These range from fixed price routine servicing options through to full repair and maintenance contracts.
Scania's Mobile Engineers service has a dedicated telephone number, 08000 77 88 99, which in addition to providing a single nationwide contact line provides emergency cover 24/7 via Scania Assistance.
